No one waits for the "check engine" light to come on before getting the oil changed in their car. Every few thousand miles, you get the alignment checked. You get the fluids topped-off. You have the brakes checked. You do these things because you want your car to work every time you use it. Without doing routine maintenance, you would expect your car to begin breaking down.
The human body is NO DIFFERENT.
But, unlike with car repairs where you can get a "loaner" vehicle while yours is in the shop, you can't exactly stop using your body. And none of us wants to stop our physical training, whether it be walking for health or training for the next race, game (Games), or fight. So you have to get smarter about your training in order to continue through an injury. That's where we come in.
